Australian talents, Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDSís Jack Miller and Monster Yamaha Tech3ís Broc Parkes would represent the nation for todayís Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix. After Miller placed fifth on the grid in yesterdayís qualifying, and Parkes qualifying 21st, this afternoon's race start was hotly anticipated as crowds lined the fence, the Aussie flag waving for both riders.
As the red light went out, Miller got fantastic start off the line to lead into Doohan corner, the Australian crowd went wild. Miller would not manage to hold on to his impressive lead after the opening laps and finished the race in seventh position. Parkes finished in 22nd position after a difficult race, but managed to bring his Yamaha home.
Miller stated; ďIt was great to lead the race in the opening laps and I built a small gap on the chasing pack. I honestly buttoned off a little bit on the third lap after burning too much tyre and I thought I would let the others past so I could have a marker in front of me. Once I understood what Marc Marquez was doing out in front, I learnt a lot but it was probably too little too late. Overall, Iím very happy with a seventh-place finish.Ē

Moto3 Wild Card, Tom Toparis stated his race from 31st on the grid and finished todayís race in 22nd in front of Juanfran Guevara and Darryn Binder.
Toparis sharing; ďThe weather has been typical of Phillip Island and that didnít allow us to dial in the bike as much as we would have liked. I did my best to stay with a group of riders as best as I could, but we started to lose touch and I had a crash near Lukey Heights early in the race. It started to rain and it was a messy race at times. Iíve had an amazing time and itís been an incredible experience. Itís all about learning for next year and Iím sure Iíll be able to transition that experience to next year. Weíve had to learn together as a team and itís been tough, but it makes you realise how good the competition is here.
ďIíve had an awesome time and for me itís all about having a break now and competing for a championship next year in the Australian Supersport class. We certainly wouldn't be here at all without our sponsors and I can't thank Leda Nutrition, Australian Outdoor Living, Kabuto Helmets and Underground Designs enough for backing this project." Toparis finished.
