With only seven entries across three classes for the event as entries closed on Monday November 13, GP Juniors Australia felt there was no other option than to abandon the event.
The decision was not made lightly, however, after consulting with the event promoters, the Phoenix Motorcycle Club, as well as the parents of junior competitors, it is in everyone’s best interest to cancel the event and move on to next year.
GP Juniors Australia promoter, Mark Bracks shared; “It is a bitter pill to swallow that I have taken the decision to cancel the final round. It appears that the event may be just too late in the season. Parents of our junior riders put in a lot of effort throughout the year, as they travel the country competing in many dirt bike meetings, as well as attempting to finance the efforts in road racing.
“While this is a setback, there have been many positives throughout the year and we have taken junior road racing to a new and exciting level. We will improve in many areas and are looking forward to progressing with exciting news about GP Juniors Australia for 2018 and beyond.
“I would personally like to thank everyone that has been a part of GP Juniors Australia and the GP Juniors Cup in 2017 and look forward to continuing with the parents and the youngsters in what is shaping as exciting times for 2018.” Bracks finished.
