Vale Alan Kempster
April 18, 2018

Motorcycling Australia (MA) is saddened to hear the passing of Alan Kempster, a much-respected member of the Motorcycling community who impacted bike riders all around the world. Alan inspired many with his ability to ride let alone race after losing both his right arm and leg in an accident in 1990.

Alan was an integral member of the Hartwell Motorcycle Club in Victoria and competed in numerous events in Australia and around the world. These included the Barry Sheene Festival of Speed Australia (2010, 2011, 2012 and 2015), Burt Monro Challenge New Zealand in 2013 where he was awarded The Burt Munro Family Trophy for Competitor of the year, The Di Di Bridgestone Cup Mugello Italy for Disabled Riders (the first ever race for disabled riders) and the 2014 Phillip Island Australian Grand Prix in the 600cc class.

Just to add to his achievements in motorcycling, Alan also represented Australia on five occasions at the Water Skiing World Championships, taking out three of those five championships.

Alan will be dearly missed around the motorcycling community, but his spirit will live on and continue to inspire riders for many years to come, Motorcycling Australia and the entire Motorcycle Sport community extends its sincere condolences to Alanís family and friends at this time.
